Why the Race?

The Great Commision, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you…” Matthew 28:19

This verse is a strong influence in my life, because it reminds me that “I am with you always, to the very end of the age”.  God is with me through all of my battles, and all of my missions. This verse led me to where I am at today, because it’s one of God’s greatest commandments. He wants us to go into all the world and spread the good news, and I want to go! My first mission was to go and spread the gospel to those around me. I learned that I could go right where I am at right now, and I don’t need to go out of the country to spread the good news. I can go to the people right around me I can start with my family, and my friends. After praying and partnering with God, I heard him tell me GO! I heard God tell me to travel and spread the good news somewhere farther. 

My next steps led me to here, because in the past I was going to go on a mission trip with The World Race. It was easier to find a path to go on because of that past. I prayed and partnered with God during a season, and he led me to this trip. My mission in Costa Rica is to open up about my faith and learn to spread the gospel to those I don’t know. I am stepping outside of my comfort zone and learning to spread his love to people I don’t know. 

I, Sasha Schuitema, am ready to go into the world to spread his gospel and his love to people who don’t know him.
